Ghaziabad Psychiatrist allegedly commits suicide, family says she was battling depression

Uttar Pradesh: In a disturbing incident, a 40-year-old psychiatrist allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the fifth floor of her apartment in Ghaziabad's Raj Nagar Extension on Sunday. Police have launched an investigation and are examining the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday at a high-rise residential society in Raj Nagar Extension, Ghaziabad. The doctor was reportedly found critically injured after the fall at a residential society in the Officers City-2 complex. Residents immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Family members alleged that she had been struggling with depression and emotional distress following her divorce around one-and-a-half years ago.
According to her family, the separation had taken a severe toll on her mental health. Her father, a noted psychiatrist in Ghaziabad, said his daughter had been struggling with mental stress and depression after ending her marriage around 18 months ago, reports NDTV.
Police are recording statements of family members and examining evidence collected from the scene as part of the investigation. Officials said the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
Officials also stated that they have not officially confirmed the recovery of any suicide note. The investigation is ongoing, with police looking into all possible circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns about the importance of mental health awareness and timely access to psychological support, particularly for individuals experiencing prolonged emotional distress. Mental health experts have repeatedly stressed that seeking professional help at an early stage can play an important role in managing depression and other mental health conditions.
