GMC Jammu Principal Dr Ashutosh Gupta Honoured for Exemplary Leadership

Chandigarh: Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, was honoured at an impressive felicitation ceremony held at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER Chandigarh for his exceptional leadership and coordinated efforts during the recent war-like situation in the Jammu, Poonch, and Rajouri regions.
The event recognised the dedicated service of all medical professionals who were deployed to these areas during the crisis. The ceremony acknowledged the tireless commitment of doctors who provided crucial medical support during the emergency. Dr. Gupta was specially recognised for his strategic planning and prompt action, which included the formation of multiple mobile medical teams, identification of specialised treatment zones within the hospital, and the provision of advanced surgical, diagnostic, and medical care for victims from the conflict-hit border regions, reports Crosstown News.
In his address, Dr. Gupta humbly dedicated the honour to his entire medical team, including faculty members, medical superintendents, nursing staff, and paramedical personnel who worked relentlessly around the clock. He credited their unwavering commitment and teamwork for ensuring timely and quality care to those in need during the challenging period, reports the Daily.
Prof Ashutosh Gupta worked as the Professor and Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology, and he assumed the role of Principal at GMC Jammu in 2023 for a one-year term, following the removal of former principal Shashi Sudan Sharma, who faced allegations of tampering with her date of birth. Since his appointment, Prof Gupta has been involved in spearheading various initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, fostering research opportunities, and ensuring high-quality medical education for students.
Under his leadership, GMC Jammu has navigated numerous challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining superior standards of healthcare delivery. His efforts have been widely recognised within the medical community, who appreciate his contributions to transforming GMC Jammu into a centre of excellence in medical education and healthcare.
