GMERS Orders Rs 19,000 Pay Cut for Non-Academic JRs
Gandhinagar: The non-academic Junior Residents/Tutors/Demonstrators who will be appointed in the medical colleges and hospitals run by the Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) are going to get Rs 19,000 lesser salary than before as the monthly stipend has now been revised from Rs 84,000 per month to Rs 65,000 per month.
Issuing an order on October 11, 2023, the Governing Body of GMERS announced this modification in respect of the stipend paid to the non-academic JRs.
The decision to revise the monthly stipend of these doctors was taken during the meeting of the GMERS Governing Body held on August 25, 2023. However, this change shall not be applicable for the Junior Residents who are pursuing postgraduate medical courses in these colleges.
As per the provisions of the State Health Department's resolution dated 30/04/2021, a monthly stipend of Rs 84,000 used to be given to the Junior Residents/Tutors/Demonstrators appointed in Medical Colleges and Hospitals run by GMERS Society. However, a reduction in the amount of stipend was under consideration.
In the meeting dated 25/08/2023, the Governing Body of GMERS discussed the issue, and a resolution was taken to pay the newly recruited Junior Residents/Tutors/Demonstrators appointed in medical colleges and hospitals Rs 65,000 as a monthly stipend instead of Rs 84,000.
This change shall be applicable to those who will be newly recruited through interviews at colleges and hospitals owned by GMER Society. Issuing an order on 11 October 2023, the Governing Body of GMERS clarified that this order has to be implemented for the appointments made only after the circular dated 11/10/2023.
The Governing Body mentioned in the circular that on completion of the contract of the Junior Residents who are currently serving, a monthly stipend of Rs.65000 has to be ordered in the new contract.
Apart from this, it has also been clarified that this provision shall not be applicable in respect of the Junior Residents pursuing PG medical courses. It should be mentioned here that the Medical Officers who join the Government Service after completing MBBS degrees get Rs 75,000 as their monthly salary.
