Gujarat doctor found dead at his residence, names BJP MP in suicide note
Gir Somnath: In the case of a 59-year-old doctor who is reported to have died by suicide, a suicide note naming BJP Lok Sabha member Rajesh Chudasama and his father Naran Chudasama was found from the spot by the police.
The Gujarat police are reportedly trying to ascertain the identity of the names given in the letter following the incident on Sunday.
The doctor lived and ran his hospital from the same building in Veraval, and the doctor's body was discovered by one of his staff. The shortly-written suicide note holds the MP and his father responsible for abetting the doctor's suicide.
The relatives of the doctor also alleged that the suicide note names the sitting MP from Junagadh-Gir Somnath and his father. Stating that the doctor had lent Rs 2.5 crore to the duo and had not received it back, the doctor's friend Dr Jalpan Rupapara said, "I have known the doctor closely for the past two years. He had told me that he was under tremendous stress as Rajesh and Naran had not returned his money. I am very sure that the names refer to the father-son duo."
M U Masi, Veraval deputy superintendent of police (in-charge) told Hindustan Times, "We are investigating the matter. The note does not give details of the persons named. We have presently registered a case of accidental death. We have consulted a handwriting expert to verify the suicide note".
The police have registered a case of accidental death and begun their investigation. Meanwhile, speaking to the Times of India, MU Masi said, "We have recovered the suicide note and sent it to the handwriting expert. The postmortem report confirmed it was suicide."
The doctor's last rites were performed on Monday. His family is demanding action against those who are responsible for allegedly abetting the suicide.
