Gujarat: FIR against doctor for pranking woman medical officer causing spine fracture
Ahmedabad: An Ahmedabad-based doctor was booked after one of his pranks failed to leave a woman medical officer with a fractured spine. The doctor was trying to pull a prank on the medical officer and pulled her chair while she was about to sit on it but the situation turned tragic after she fractured her spine.
An FIR has been lodged against the doctor at Narol police station in Ahmedabad city Wednesday under IPC section 338 for causing serious injury by a rash act.
The accused doctor has been identified as a resident of Ramol area and is currently posted at Daskroi taluka health office in Ahmedabad district, while the victim is a 32-year-old medical officer under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) program posted at Daskroi taluka health office, confirmed the police.
As per a recent media report in The Indian Express, the medical officer alleged that after the doctor pulled the prank on her, she suffered an injury and though the doctor promised to compensate her by providing medical help, the doctor did nothing.
In her complaint, the medical officer said, "On October 1, 2020, I reached my office and was about to sit on my chair when the doctor intentionally pulled it, making me fall. I suffered great pain in my back, however, the doctor kept saying that he did it as a prank and did not help me."
The complainant further added, "Later I met few doctors and on December 2, 2020, I underwent X-ray… doctors told me that I have a fracture in my spine. The doctor had promised to help me medically but he did not do anything. He… ridiculed and hurt me in public."
