Gurugram Ayurveda doctor runs over Swiggy rider, caught on CCTV; rider critical

Doctor arrested
Gurugram: In a shocking incident, a 41-year-old government ayurvedic doctor allegedly ran over a Swiggy rider multiple times with his Scorpio after being annoyed over a parking issue. The alleged attack left the rider critically injured, who is currently undergoing treatment at a Civil Hospital in Gururgram, and the accused has been arrested on charges of attempt to murder.
Two videos of the incident - one from CCTV and another recorded by a delivery executive have gone viral on social media. The footage shows the Scorpio speeding towards the rider, reversing, and then moving forward again to run him over before fleeing the spot.
The accused is a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) doctor at a primary health centre in Daulatabad. According to the police, the horrific act was allegedly committed in a fit of rage as the victim would often park his motorcycle in front of the accused's Scorpio vehicle, reportedly causing him difficulty.

The incident took place at a roadside pickup point in Sector 93, Gurugram, on Sunday night, where several Swiggy delivery executives were standing and waiting for orders. According to the police, the accused was allegedly annoyed by the constant presence of delivery agents crowding the street near the Swiggy warehouse.
CCTV footage that went viral on social media shows the doctor's black Scorpio first hitting a parked motorcycle and then leaving the spot. A short while later, the SUV returned and swerved dangerously towards the group of delivery riders, attempting to hit them. During this act, the vehicle again struck the same motorcycle that had been knocked down earlier before fleeing once more.
Angered by the repeated collision, the owner of the motorcycle protested and questioned the driver’s actions. According to the police, this confrontation further enraged the driver, who then turned his vehicle around, accelerated, and deliberately ran over the Swiggy rider standing near the eatery pickup point.
Several other delivery executives narrowly escaped being hit. The injured rider sustained serious injuries to his head, chest, and legs.
Another video recorded on a mobile phone by one of the delivery executives clearly shows the SUV charging at the rider, reversing, and then moving forward again to run him over before escaping from the scene.
Following the attack, the rider was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the ICU, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
An FIR was registered at Sector 10 police station on Sunday night, and the SUV was impounded, but the accused was absconding. Enraged over the incident, a large number of delivery workers reached the Sector 93 police post on Monday and held a protest demanding the prompt arrest of the accused. The crowd dispersed following assurance from the police, and the accused was arrested on Monday evening, an official said.
A police spokesperson told PTI, "During interrogation, the accused revealed that he lives in Bhagat Singh Colony, located near a Swiggy store. The delivery agent would often park his bike on the road, causing him difficulty in moving his vehicle. Holding a grudge against him, he ran over him with his car multiple times."
