JK Medical Council slams 1 doctor with fake MBBS degree,11 more under scanner
Srinagar: In a shocking discovery that has put the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council (JKMC) in a tight spot, a 49-year-old doctor registered on the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) portal has been found to be using a forged MBBS degree certificate while the process is on to verify the degrees of 11 other doctors.
Reports reveal that the man pretending to be a doctor uploaded his documents on the portal hoping to get verified on the ABDM portal, but the scheme backfired when the state medical council caught his trick red-handed.
This comes after the government started the process of verifying the certificates of doctors on the Hospital Professional Registry (HPR) portal of ABDM.

The government has made it mandatory for the doctors and the nurses working in the government as well as the private sector to register themselves on the Hospital Professional Registry (HPR) portal of the ABDM. Following this, the doctors were asked to upload their MBBS Degree certificates and other relevant documents on the portal.
While verifying the certificates, the state medical council found that a 49-year-old doctor from Bandipora district who claimed to have an MBBS certificate from the University of Kashmir in March 2007 was a fake one and it also shows that he has appeared in the final year examination in session Oct-Nov 2005, Daily Excelsior reports.
In order to seek an explanation, the officials of the council contacted the doctor but the attempts failed as the doctor switched off his cell phone when asked about his fake certificates.
As per GK reports, it has been also revealed that the JKMC also found 11 others whose degrees have been found fake and are in the process of verifying. Explaining the matter in depth, an official said "We are in the process of scrutinising the degrees of these doctors. The degree of one of the doctors, who hails from Bandipora district, has been found fraudulent and factitious on Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) portal, while the process is on to verify the degrees of 11 other doctors."
Addressing the Director of National Health Mission, Regional Institute Health and Family Welfare in Jammu, JKMC informed the matter in a letter adding that strict action will be taken against the fake doctors.
"This is to inform you that during the verification of registration certificates on the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) portal, it was found that some people who are not qualified MBBS doctors have also submitted their applications for verification. One such person from Inderkote Sumbal Sonawari, District Bandipora has submitted his application on the ABDM portal. During scrutiny of his documents like his registration certificate and MBBS degree, it was found that these documents are fraudulent, fictitious and fabricated and there is no such doctor registered by the J&K Medical Council by that name vide registration No. 00610 dated 24/5/2007 and neither any such application for registration along with MBBS degree from University of Kashmir has been received and processed by this office," read the letter.
However, the officials of the medical council confirmed that the case may be handled by the Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
