Junior Doctor's body recovered from Narmada River after 4-day search

Jabalpur: The body of a junior doctor, who drowned in the Narmada River during Holi celebrations, was recovered on Monday near Lamhetaghat, approximately 500 meters from the accident site.
The deceased, Dr Nikhil, was a second-year postgraduate pathology student at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College in Jabalpur. According to media reports, Dr Nikhil and five friends had gone to the river after celebrating Holi. While bathing, he accidentally slipped and was swept away by the river's strong current.

Despite the efforts of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Home Guard teams, the search operation was hampered by powerful water currents, prolonging the recovery efforts.
After three days of intensive rescue operations, the search team finally located Dr. Nikhil’s body on the fourth day. As the water flow eased, the rescue personnel spotted the body trapped between rocks near Ghughra Ghat. Using ropes, they retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem examination at the same medical college where Dr. Nikhil was studying, reports Free Press Journal.
Bhedaghat police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Statements from the victim’s family members have been recorded. The post-mortem report is expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Dr Nikhil was a native of Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh. His sudden demise has left his family, friends, and fellow students in shock and mourning.
