KEM doctor's house robbed, Rs 12 lakh in Cash, Gold looted
Mumbai: In a recent robbery, the house of a 46-year-old senior doctor and professor at KEM Hospital in Parel became the treasure hunt plot for some unidentified thieves. The burglars broke into the unoccupied house and allegedly looted US dollars amounting to Rs 12 lakh in Indian currency, along with gold and silver ornaments.
The robbery took place when the doctor and his family were away for work from their home which is situated within the hospital premises. This provided an opportunity for the thieves to steal valuable items.

After discovering the house in a messy condition, the doctor approached the police and filed a complaint against the unidentified robbers. Later, a case was registered under section 305 (theft in dwelling house) and 331 (house trespass or house break-in) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The doctor has been identified as Dr Rahul Kumar Ramchandra, a professor at KEM hospital and his wife is a gynaecologist at a Ghatkopar-based hospital. The family has been living on the KEM Hospital campus since December 2023, reports Free Press Journal.
According to the police, the incident took place on the morning of January 13, when the doctor, his wife, and their son left for work and school. Around 3 or 4 PM, the doctor's wife returned home with their child and found the house in complete disarray. Suspecting a robbery, she checked and found that cash and gold ornaments were missing.
She then called the doctor who found the house door lock broken. It is reported that the robbers allegedly broke the lock on the front door using a sharp object to gain entry and steal the items.
To identify the robbers, the police are analyzing CCTV footage from the surrounding area and an investigation is underway.
