Following this, an FIR was registered by the police under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on substantial evidence collected from her possession. The woman aged 29, is a resident of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu.
As per a media report in Kaumudi online, the incident was discovered by another doctor who recently joined the hospital. The doctor found the action of the accused suspicious and alerted the medical superintendent of the matter.
Subsequently, the superintendent decided to investigate the qualification background of the woman. It was found that the woman was using some unknown doctor's registration number to practice medicine in the city.
A report on this matter was submitted to Duty Medical Officer (DMO) for further enquiry by the administration.
During the investigation, the police found that before working at the taluk hospital, the accused worked as a doctor at Kuthukuzhy life care hospital in Kothamangalam from September 2021 to March 15, 2022.
Moreover, she obtained a medical degree from Ukraine but was not qualified to practice as a doctor in India. Despite the consequences, the woman practised medicine for three years in a row in India.
Later, the woman was produced in court and remanded in custody. Further investigation into the case is underway.
