Ludhiana doctor booked for alleged rape and assault of live-in partner

Doctor Booked
Ludhiana: In a shocking incident, police have booked a city-based doctor for allegedly raping and torturing his long-term live-in partner after she confronted him about divorcing his wife and legally marrying her.
The victim, a 38-year-old woman, has been in a live-in relationship with the accused for the past 15 years and has two children—a seven-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter—with him. She stated that the accused had promised to marry her legally, a commitment that he failed to fulfill.

According to the news reports, around seven months ago, the complainant discovered that the accused had been married to another woman, a fellow doctor, for 25 years. After facing some personal issues, the wife and the accused had been living separately. When the complainant asked him to divorce his wife and marry her instead, the accused reportedly began threatening her.
The woman further alleged that on July 26, at around 7:30 PM, while she was in her bedroom and the children were in another room, the accused—intoxicated and holding a beer bottle—forced himself on her. When she confronted him about divorcing his wife, he became violent, physically assaulting her and sexually abusing her. The FIR states that he even attacked her private parts with an empty beer bottle, leaving her injured.
Following the assault, the woman managed to escape and spent the night at a nearby gurudwara. She approached the police the next day and lodged a complaint.
