Fake Doctor Arrested in Baramulla
Baramulla: In a shocking incident an imposter posing as a doctor from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was apprehended by locals near Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla on Tuesday. The imposter, who claimed to be a cardiologist, was confronted by the public and subsequently handed over to the police.

After being rejected by the chemist, the imposter proceeded to a shopping complex outside GMC Baramulla. There, he attempted to find a space to establish a private clinic, falsely claiming to be a cardiologist. His suspicious behaviour caught the attention of local chemists, who immediately alerted a local journalist for further investigation.
Further inquiry into the case revealed that the man had a counterfeit identity card identifying him as Dr Abdul Razak Khan, son of Ali Mohammad Khan. The card listed his address as Tankipora, near the DC Office in Srinagar, and falsely claimed his affiliation with the Department of Medicine HIV/AIDS at AIIMS, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi. Additionally, it included contact numbers and two contact details but these details were ultimately determined to be fabricated.
Local journalist Umar Rashid, who was instrumental in alerting authorities, expressed concern over the imposter’s actions.
According to Kashmir images, journalist Umar Rashid said, “The locals confronted him and asked for his qualifications and credentials, which he failed to provide. Realizing he was a fraud, they immediately grabbed him and informed me.”
While in police custody, initial investigations indicate that the imposter was from Rajouri and had been using the forged identity card to deceive others. According to the news reports he has only completed his studies up to Class 12th. A police official stated that individuals like these play with the lives of innocent people, and assured that strict action will be taken against them.
