Mangaluru: K S Hegde Radiation Oncologist Dr Jayaram Shetty dies of heart attack
Mangaluru: In an unfortunate incident, Dr Jayaram Shetty, a radiation oncologist at the Justice K.S Hegde Charitable hospital, Deralakatte, passed away due to a heart attack on Wednesday at the age of 53.
He was the Head of the oncology department and the chairman of the Multidisciplinary Tumor Board of the hospital.
Dr Shetty, a native of Dota Kolkebail in Parari of Gurupura and a resident of Mangaluru, was returning home from his duty on Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, he suffered a heart attack at his home while getting ready to go to a programme.

His family members immediately rushed him to the nearest hospital but by the time they could reach the hospital, Dr Shetty died on the way.
He was known for his kind heart and helpful gesture towards poor patients and also had an interest in social work. Dr Shetty is survived by his wife and daughter.
A number of people condoled his sudden death, including his friends, Nitte (deemed to be university) chancellor N Vinay Hegde, the hospital's management committee, and the doctors and staff of Justice K S Hegde Hospital.
Dr Shetty has completed his post-graduation in Radiation Oncology from KMC Medical College, Mangalore and has served for more than a decade at KMC Medical College. For the last 11 years he has been working in the Radiation Oncology department of Justice K S Hegde Hospital, Deralakatte.
