Medical Negligence
Srinagar: In a shocking incident of medical negligence, a Kashmir-based doctor has been accused of mistakenly removing a woman's uterus instead of performing an ENT surgery at Hakeem Sonuallah Hospital in Sopore.
The news of the botched surgery soon went viral on social media and resulted in widespread public outrage. Activists and residents have demanded a lifetime ban on the doctor's private practice, Kashmir Observer has reported.
Meanwhile, the Health Department has taken cognizance of the issue and initiated an investigation into the matter. In this regard, recently a team of officials raided the concerned hospitals to investigate the allegations made against the doctor. The authorities have assured to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and if the allegations are proven true, legal action is expected against the accused.

Commenting on the matter, a resident told Kashmir Observer, "Such negligence is unacceptable. A lifetime ban on the doctor’s private practice is the least that should be done."
As per the latest media report by Newsx, the actual surgery was intended to address an ENT issue. Assuring that a full investigation will be carried out, a Health Department official told the Daily, "We are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness. A full investigation will be carried out, and necessary legal action will follow."
However, allegations have also surfaced that the hospital authorities tried to cover up the botched surgery. In this regard, some of the locals have alleged that the hospital management allegedly attempted to hide the malpractice and claimed that certain Facebook influencers were even involved in trying to suppress the news.
Commenting on this, an activist told the Daily, "This shows a serious lack of accountability, and it’s time to question the safety standards at private healthcare facilities."
