Mumbai doctor arrested for molesting teen during medical check-up

Mumbai: The Shivaji Nagar police have arrested a doctor from the Govandi area following allegations of molesting a 16-year-old girl during a medical examination at his clinic in Suburban Mumbai on Wednesday.

The accused, who is a general practitioner and runs a nursing home, is identified as Dr Khalid Ansari.

According to the Shivaji Nagar police station, the minor had visited the clinic on June 10 for medical treatment.

According to a UNI report, during the check-up, Dr. Ansari allegedly took advantage of her helplessness and molested her under the guise of medical procedures. He is also accused of warning the girl against disclosing the incident to her mother.

The girl, deeply disturbed by the incident, eventually confided in her parents. She was taken to Rajawadi Hospital for medical evaluation. Following the examination and with her parents' consent, a complaint was registered at the Shivaji Nagar Police Station.

Police have registered an offence under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a doctor was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a 19-year-old woman patient during a medical check-up at his clinic in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, police said. According to the PTI report, police said she was harassed and raped at the clinic and when the woman complained about it, the doctor who is also a former BJP mandal president was thrashed by locals.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim, she visited the clinic with her younger brother due to illness. She alleged she was taken alone into the clinic where the doctor allegedly sexually harassed her during a check-up and raped her.
