Navi Mumbai: Four injured after orthopaedic surgeon allegedly loses control of car

Navi Mumbai- In a tragic incident in Maharashtra's Kalamboli, four pedestrians, including a three-year-old girl, were injured, and a scooter was hit after a doctor allegedly lost control of his car.
The accident occurred around 7 PM on Monday when a doctor reportedly lost control of his car, which veered off the road, mounted the footpath and struck the pedestrians, including a three-year-old girl, before hitting a scooter parked on the roadside.
The doctor has been identified as an orthopaedic surgeon practising at Satyam Multi-Speciality Hospital in Kalamboli. He was reportedly returning after performing surgery on a patient at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Civic Hospital in Kalwa, Thane.
Around 7 PM, while driving his car towards Satyam Multi-Speciality Hospital in Kalamboli, he suddenly lost control of the vehicle upon reaching the Sector-1 area of the Kalamboli node.
Veering off the road, he hit a parked scooter and then mounted the footpath, where he struck four pedestrians, injuring them. The injured included a couple, their minor daughter, and a male hawker.
According to the doctor, the incident occurred when he was feeling sleepy after performing a long surgery at Kalwa Hospital. He was on his way to Satyam Multi-speciality Hospital in Kalamboli, where he works as an orthopaedic surgeon.
Speaking to the TOI, Senior Inspector Rajendra Kote of Kalamboli said that following the incident, a medical test was conducted at the Panvel Sub-District Hospital to check for alcohol consumption, and the medical report is awaited.
However, an FIR will be registered against the accused under sections of the BNS and the Motor Vehicles Act for injuring four people through negligent driving.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a speeding SUV allegedly driven by a doctor collided with a scooter carrying three people. Following this, the car ran over four individuals sleeping on a footpath. One person died in the accident, while six others sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to Balrampur Hospital for medical treatment.
