Neurosurgeon found dead in Rajasthan hotel room

Jaipur: In a tragic incident, a neurosurgeon from Andhra Pradesh who had travelled to Rajasthan's Barmer for an interview at a hospital was found dead, lying unconscious on his bed with empty medicine packets scattered nearby.
Based on the circumstances and preliminary investigation, the police have ruled the case a suspected suicide by poisoning. However, the exact reason behind taking the extreme step remains unknown.
The deceased had arrived in Barmer three days ago from Andhra Pradesh after receiving a call from the Gujarat hospital and was staying in a hotel. He had checked into the hotel on September 20.

As per Dainik Bhaskar media report, the incident occurred on September 23, when hotel staff noticed that he had not opened the door of his room till late in the morning. Despite repeated knocks, there was no response. As a result, the hotel staff became suspicious and informed the owner, who then informed the police.
When the police arrived, they broke open the door and found the doctor unconscious in bed. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by ambulance, but doctors declared him dead.
Speaking to PTI, Barmer Kotwali SHO Balbhadra Singh said that the preliminary investigation suggests a case of suicide by consuming poison.
"Documents recovered from the room helped us establish his identity. His family has been informed," he added.
The police sent his body for a post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death and registered a case in this regard. An investigation is underway.
