Odisha: senior Obstetrician & Gynecologist dies in a car accident
Bhubaneshwar: In an unfortunate incident, a senior Obstetrician & Gynecologist doctor lost his life in a car accident that happened near Manchabandha under Baripada Sadar police limits in the Mayurbhanj district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Dr Anjan Sarangi who worked at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Balasore.
The accident occurred when Dr Sarangi was on the way to his hometown Baripada. He was driving his car when suddenly he hit a truck around 9:35 am. His car was badly damaged and he was stuck inside the car for thirty minutes. He was stuck behind the steering wheel of his car.

The accident spot was located in a forest far away from any nearest populated place. As a result, locals came to know about the situation later. As soon as they came to know, they rushed to the spot in order to rescue Dr Sarangi.
The locals used a gas cutter to bring him out of the damaged car. He was rescued in a severe condition. Soon the locals took him to the Pandit Raghunath Murmu medical college and hospital at Baripada. The doctors there after witnessing his serious condition referred him to AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

On the way to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, he died near Bhadrak. As per a TOI report, He was a popular doctor. His death was mourned by many people in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, and Keonjhar.
Police found that the truck driver, as well as his vehicle, immediately left the scene of the accident without being concerned about the condition of the car occupant.

In addition to his wife, an ophthalmologist, he leaves behind a son enrolled in class IX at a school in Bhubaneswar.
A case has been registered and police are investigating the matter.
