Orthopaedic surgeon, family thrashed with rods in Gurugram over parking dispute
Gurugram: In yet another case of violence against medical practitioners, a doctor and his family members were allegedly assaulted with sticks and rods following which a case has been registered against multiple attackers.
The police have booked the attackers under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 379B (snatching after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The doctor, an orthopaedic surgeon with Sanar International Hospital on Golf Course Road and his three family members including his father, brother and maternal cousin were subject to violence and were brutally beaten up by people in the service lane near the entrance of the condominium.

The incident took place on Sunday following an argument over the removal of a doctor's broken-down car from the entrance of a condominium in Sector 51 of the city. It came to light that the doctor and his wife who is also a doctor were travelling in their car when suddenly it broke down on the service lane near the condominium entrance around 9.45 pm on Sunday.
The doctor then parked his car on one side of the service road and called his cousin for help. After trying several attempts to restart the car, the doctor failed to move the car from the road. By the time they were waiting for their cousin to arrive, the situation escalated when the security guard asked them to move the doctor's car from the service road.
“A security guard asked them rudely to immediately remove the car. The doctor couple sought some time as the car was not starting. This allegedly irked the guard and he verbally abused them. Singh alleged that he also misbehaved with his wife,” a police officer informed HT.
According to the doctor, the security guard apart from abusing them, also grabbed his wife's hand. When the doctor protested, the security guard went away from the spot.
“The suspect guard called his associates over the phone and they soon reached the spot and allegedly assaulted the doctor with bats and rods. By then, his cousin also arrived and the suspects allegedly assaulted him too. He called Singh’s father and brother for help. They also reached the spot and were allegedly beaten up,” the officer said.
In the attack, the doctor's brother was wearing a gold chain which was snatched by two attackers before fleeing the spot. The condition of the doctor and his family members were brutal. Locals rushed them to a private hospital in Sector 51.
When asked about the attack, the doctor said "It looked like a planned attack. They snatched a gold chain from my brother and other valuables."
After registering a case, the police said, "Most of the suspects are from Tigra village. Identities of seven have been ascertained. They will be arrested soon. Further investigation is on in the case."
