Orthopedic doctor robbed of Rs 6 lakh
Kannur: An orthopedic doctor associated with AKG hospital in Kannur lost Rs 6 lakh in a theft that took place at his residence on Saturday.
The doctor and his wife were not at their home named 'Sreepadmam' when the robbery ensued.
As per various media accounts, the thief entered the office room by breaking its lock, and stole the money kept inside.
When the family returned on Sunday afternoon, they found about the theft. Following that, they immediately reported the case to the police. The wardrobe was found to be broken, with everything in the room misplaced and scattered.

The required evidence was collected from the spot by the dog squad and fingerprint experts. Additionally, the police also acquired fingerprints and CCTV visuals from the house. The town police have begun their investigation of the case, reports Mathrubhumi.
According to a media report in the Samayam Malayalam, the orthopedic surgeon used to work at the Kannur AKG Hospital. The theft happened at his house which is located behind the Kannur ABC showroom at around 1 am on Sunday.
Speaking to the media, the town police inspector stated that the incident took place when no one was present in the house. He added that the CCTV footages revealed information about people who have been involved in such thefts. Stating that they have got information about 2 persons from the footage, the doctor pointed out that the accused would be caught very soon.
He added that the police had always cautioned people about informing the neighbouring police station before they leave their houses for a long stay. He further added that as part of preventive measures, the police would increase night patrolling and would take steps to prevent such thefts from happening.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported a similar incident where a doctor was robbed of Rs 6 lakh allegedly by his house help working at his residence in Chembur, who used to buy gold ornaments for her boyfriend with the stolen cash.
