PGI Chandigarh Recruitment: Specialties of Rheumatology and Infectious Disease get new names, details
Chandigarh: In order to recruit highly qualified medical professionals, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has taken a significant step by approving and recommending modified recruitment rules for assistant professor positions within various specialities under the Department of Internal Medicine.
The modifications in the recruitment rules were a result of a discussion aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the hiring process for assistant professors in specialized fields within the Department of Internal Medicine.
An order issued by the director of the premier institute on November 6 mentioned "Consequent upon recommendation of the standing academic committee of the institute in its meeting held on 3.04.2021 vide Agenda Item no 55, the governing body of institute in its meeting held on 22.06.2021 vide agenda item no 24 and the institute body in its meeting held on 6.09.2023 vide agenda item no E-1 has approved and recommended the modified recruitment rules for the posts of Assistant Professor in the following specialties under the Department of Internal Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh."

The various speciality departments include clinical immunology & rheumatology, emergency medicine, clinical infectious diseases, geriatric medicine; haematology, oncology, benign haematology, bone marrow transplant, geriatric haematology, and medical oncology.
Further, the notice added "vide above recommendations, specialities "Rheumatology" and "Infectious Diseases" under the Department of Internal Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh are hereby re-named as "Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology" and "Clinical Infectious Diseases" respectively with immediate effect."
Implementing this measure will ensure benefits for both the academic environment and the quality of healthcare provided.

The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh was conceived in 1960 as a center of excellence which would endeavour to develop patterns of teaching in postgraduate medical education in as many branches as possible and attempt to produce specialists in several disciplines of medicine.
