Sitapur 69-year-old BAMS doctor allegedly shoots self with licensed revolver, probe on

Suicide
Lucknow: In an unfortunate incident, a 69-year-old BAMS doctor allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with his licensed revolver at his residence in the Civil Lines area of Sitapur district on Friday afternoon.
According to media reports, the deceased, a BAMS doctor who ran a clinic in Khairabad, had lunch around 1 pm before going to his room on the first floor. Shortly afterward, his wife, who was downstairs, heard a gunshot. When she rushed upstairs, she found him lying face down on the bed with a gunshot wound to the temple.
Police teams reached the spot soon after being alerted and secured the area. The licensed revolver used in the incident has been seized, and forensic evidence has been collected. Officials said the practitioner's wife was in deep shock and initially unable to record her statement.
Police sources added that the doctor had not been speaking much at home for the past two weeks. However, the exact reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
Police Circle Officer Vinayak Gopal Bhosale said that, prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. The situation will become clearer after the post-mortem report is received, and an investigation is underway, reports Jagran.

Speaking to TOI, Neighbours described the doctor as a happy-go-lucky person who rarely showed signs of stress. A neighbour said, "He was always smiling and never seemed worried about the future. It is hard to believe he could take such a step." Residents also recalled his active involvement in social causes. "He used to support people in need, be it medical help or financial assistance," said another neighbour.
