SMS Medical College Prof of PMR, Dr Nitin Pandey passes away at 49
Mumbai: In an unfortunate incident, a professor in the Department of Physical Medical and Rehabilitation (PMR) at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital, Jaipur passed away on Thursday due to a suspected heart attack.
The professor has been identified as Dr Nitin Pandey who sadly lost his life at the age of 49 at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh. The passing of the doctor has brought sorrow to his family, friends, colleagues and the medical community, who were deeply shocked by the news.
While the exact reason behind his passing remains uncertain, it is widely believed that a suspected heart attack led to his untimely demise, leaving his cricket colleagues in shock.

According to a TOI news report, the doctor played cricket during his spare time to maintain his physical fitness and was leading an active life. Consequently, his colleagues, with whom he shared the cricket field, were taken aback by his sudden demise.
Dr Pandey completed his MBBS in Medicine from RNT Medical College in 1999 and his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Physical Medical and Rehabilitation from SMS Medical College in 2008.
Dr Rajeev Bagarhatta, principal of SMS Medical College informed the Daily "What we have come to know is that he died of a heart attack. Since his death has happened in some other city, the medical sequence of events, we don’t know. A heart attack is a suspected cause of his death as we have heard from his head of the department. We all are feeling sad over his untimely death."
SMS Hospital’s superintendent Dr Achal Sharma said "It could be work stress taking toll on the health of doctors."
"The news is devastating. Still hard to believe that he has left us," said Dr Satish Jain, his cricket teammate.
Former Rajasthan Ranji team captain Rohit Jhalani had a long association with Dr Pandey who said "Being a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, he always helped budding cricketers."
