TN doctor stabbed multiple times outside clinic in revenge attack

Doctor Stabbed
Srivilliputtur: In a tragic incident, a 50-year-old doctor sustained severe injuries after being allegedly brutally stabbed multiple times by a man outside his clinic on New Street in Koonankulam. Police have arrested the accused in connection with the attack.
The doctor suffered bleeding injuries to his abdomen, back, and thigh. He was immediately rushed to the government hospital in Srivilliputtur, where he serves as a medical officer, and was admitted for treatment. His condition is currently stable.
It has been reported that the accused harboured a personal vendetta against the doctor stemming from a 2019 incident at the hospital. In the same year, the court directed the accused to perform social service at the hospital. While working there, the accused reportedly made some derogatory comments against other doctors. For this, the victim doctor, identified as Dr Ramesh Babu, scolded him.
The incident took place around 9 p.m. on Monday on New Street in Koonankulam, just as the doctor was leaving his clinic to return home. The attacker was reportedly waiting outside and suddenly launched the knife attack. He stabbed him multiple times.
The police told The Hindu, "The accused shouted at the doctor over a 2019 incident at the government hospital in Srivilliputtur. The accused was reportedly directed by a local court that year to perform social service at the hospital. Dr. Ramesh had scolded the accused then for making derogatory comments against fellow doctors."
After the doctor regained consciousness, he informed the police about the accused. Based on his complaint, the police arrested the accused for attempt to murder, using abusive language, and criminal intimidation.
Medical Dialogues recently reported that two unidentified miscreants posing as patients reportedly shot a doctor in his chest at a private nursing home in the Kot Ise Khan town of Punjab’s Moga district. The doctor received two bullets and suffered serious injuries. According to the police, the miscreants pretending to be patients entered the Harbans Nursing Home run by the doctor and sought treatment from him. While he was attending to one of them and discussing medicines, the second man, who was standing behind at the time, opened fire and shot the doctor with two bullets.
