TN: Gang attacks doctor's house for complaint against illicit arrack sale
Chennai: In a wreaking revenge on a police informant, a gang barged into a doctors house in Vadugachimathil village near Nanguneri in Tirunelveli district and ransacked it.
As per preliminary findings, the gang attacked Dr K Karthik Kumar's house as he had allegedly informed the police about illegal arrack production and sale in the village, as well as leasing an illegal pond for fishing in the village.
However, Nambi Rajan, one of the gang members alleged in a police report that Kumar assaulted him and was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday night.

As per police reports, the inspector has decided to file a complaint against the doctor based on Rajan's complaint.
The Times Bureau reports that Nambi Rajan, Muthu Pandi, and his son Raja arrived at the doctor's house and one of them pulled out a sword and assaulted Kumar.
After witnessing the scene, the couple rushed into their house and locked the door. Later, the gang threw stones at the house and broke the doors.

They also damaged streetlights in order to avoid being caught on camera.
Four years ago, Vadugachimathil rose to prominence after CCTV cameras were installed in the entire village.
The doctor who is also a commandant of the Tamil Nadu Home Guards (TNHG) wing in Tirunelveli, had lodged a written complaint to police about the illegal leasing of the village pond and the selling of illegal arrack in the area.
