Tragic: Doctor electrocuted to death at RNT College Hostel

29-Year-Old Doctor Dies Under Mysterious Circumstances
Udaipur: In a tragic and unfortunate incident, a 35-year-old doctor was allegedly electrocuted while taking water from a cooler at the postgraduate hostel of Ravindranath Tagore (RNT) Medical College in Udaipur, who was about to join the Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital.
Despite giving immediate CPR and rushing him to the hospital, the doctor could not be revived and was pronounced dead. The deceased, Dr Ravi Sharma, arrived in Udaipur recently ahead of his scheduled joining at the hospital. He was staying with his cousin, also a doctor, in the college PG hostel.
His sudden death led to widespread anger among resident doctors and students at the institution, who ceased their work and launched a protest on campus on Thursday, raising slogans and demanding the resignation of college officials - the principal and hostel warden.

The tragic incident took place around 2 AM on Wednesday. According to Dr Prashant, Dr Ravi was taking water from a cooler placed in the corridor when he received a strong electric shock and collapsed.
Dr Prashant told PTI, "He received a strong electric shock and collapsed. Hearing his cries, other resident doctors rushed to his aid and attempted CPR before taking him to MB Hospital, where he was declared dead."
Following the incident, resident doctors assigned to the emergency, ICU, and trauma wards and undergraduate medical students joined the strike on campus, disrupting medical services in one of the largest hospitals in southern Rajasthan.
Demanding accountability from the college administration, the doctors and students demanded the resignation of the principal and the hostel warden. "We demand the resignation of the principal and the hostel warden on moral grounds for this tragic lapse," said Dr Ashish Mahant, Joint Secretary of the Resident Doctors' Union.
According to a latest media report by Patrika, Dr Ravi Sharma was posted at the Kherwara Community Health Centre and was staying with his cousin at the PG hostel for two to three days before joining the hospital.
An investigation is underway, and authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report while checking the electrical safety of appliances in the hostel.
