Tripura doctor arrested for allegedly raping nurse on pretext of marriage
Agartala: A Tripura-based doctor has been arrested for allegedly raping and cheating a nurse on the pretext of marriage at Teliamura in Tripura's Khowai district.
According to the complainant, this happened when the nurse refused to involve in a sexual relationship with the accused and the latter allegedly raped her.
The accused has been identified as a 32-year-old doctor working at a government hospital in Teliamura, Tripura. The duo began dating each other after meeting on several occasions.
Later, the nurse who hails from Agartala and the accused agreed to be in a romantic relationship. Although their relationship lasted nearly six months, things started to take a turn when the accused demanded a sexual relationship from her.

As per the nurse claims, this is not the first time the accused had put forward such a demand. In the beginning, she refused to involve in a physical relationship with him but ultimately gave in when the accused promised to marry her.
Meanwhile, the accused again called her at his residence in Teliamura demanding the same but the nurse refused it completely this time. Getting turned down, the accused allegedly assaulted and raped her in his residence, reports NE Now.
Following this, the nurse approached the Agartala woman's police station to register a complaint against the accused but they refused to take the case since the incident falls under the jurisdiction of Teliamura Police Station.
Based on the nurse's complaint, Teliamura Police filed an FIR against the doctor under Section 376 (rape), 417 (cheating), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) in the Indian Penal code and arrested the accused on the grounds of the above-mentioned charges.
It is unclear whether the nurse and the doctor work at the same hospital.
Meanwhile, police have opened the case and an investigation is underway.
