Unable to clear NEET PG, MBBS doctor commits suicide
Surat: In an unfortunate incident, a 26-year-old MBBS doctor allegedly committed suicide after he was unable to clear the NEET PG exam.
As per a media report in the Times of India, the medico was going through depression as he was unable to clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for PG medical admissions, and subsequently was not qualified to pursue the MD course.
The medico hung himself from the hook of a ceiling fan in his room on the first floor of the house on Monday between 5 PM and 7 PM.
The police registered an accidental death and held a further investigation into the matter.

The medico was preparing for NEET since he wanted to pursue MD. He had completed his MBBS from Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research.
However, the medico could not clear the exam and he didn't find his name in the recently declared result.
As a result, he slipped into depression, preliminary investigation revealed, reports the TOI.
The body was found by the medico's father who then informed the police.
A case of accidental death has been registered by Adajan police, who are investigating the case further.
NEET-PG is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination for admission to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses as per Section 61(2) of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 read with 10 (D) of Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. No other entrance examination, either at the state or the Institution level, shall be valid for entry to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses. Qualifying NEET-PG is mandatory for entry to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses under various Universities/ Institutions in the country. NEET PG is mandatory even for foreign nationals seeking admission in medical courses in India.
