Unauthorised Extensions: JnK Govt orders Repatriation of Overstaying Doctors

Doctor
Srinagar: In a recent administrative move aimed at addressing staff imbalances in peripheral healthcare institutions, the Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered the immediate repatriation of doctors who have overstayed their deputation or tenure postings at Government Medical Colleges (GMC) in Jammu and Srinagar.
The directive was issued on Monday by the Secretary of Health and Medical Education, Dr. Abid Rasheed Shah, in response to what the department described as "unauthorised extensions" of postings beyond the permissible limits.

The order further mandates that these doctors shall be considered relieved from their current positions with immediate effect. It also warns that any non-compliance with these directives must be reported by the concerned Directorates for the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against the delinquent doctors.
