Upset with marriage proposal, doctor allegedly commits suicide

Coimbatore: In an unfortunate incident, a 27-year-old female doctor allegedly committed suicide by administering an overdose of sleeping tablets through injection. Her body was found in her room at a private hospital in Dharmapuri early Monday.
According to the police, the doctor was upset about a marriage proposal arranged by her parents, which she did not approve of. This is believed to have pushed her to take the extreme step.
The doctor had been working at BGR Hospital in Dharmapuri Town for the past two years. She had completed her MBBS degree in the Philippines before returning to India.

As per the DT NEXT news report, the incident took place on Sunday at around 7 pm when the doctor left her home for her hospital shift and continued working until midnight. After attending to the patients, she went to her room around midnight.
Around 2 am, nurses came to call her for an outpatient case but received no response when they knocked on her door. As she did not open the door, the staff of the hospital broke open the doors and found her in an unconscious condition.
She was rushed for emergency treatment, but doctors could not save her. Later, the police were informed, and a case was registered under relevant BNS sections. An investigation in this regard is underway.
Medical Dialogues recently reported that a renowned psychiatrist from Alwar, Rajasthan, known for helping countless patients struggling with suicidal thoughts, allegedly ended his own life due to prolonged mental stress. The 40-year-old doctor, director of Vishwas Hospital in the Sahab Johra area, was found hanging at his residence in Gandhi Nagar on Friday morning. Though the exact reason behind the suicide is still under investigation by police, the doctor's brother has claimed that years of mental harassment and a prolonged marital dispute reportedly pushed him to take this extreme step.
