Thiruvananthapuram: In a shocking incident, a female doctor at a community health centre in Kallara Tharatta was allegedly attacked by a drunk patient and his attendant with a pair of scissors attempting to stab her. Luckily, the doctor sustained no injuries but was reportedly abused and threatened by them. The police acting swiftly arrested the duo the same day.
The incident occurred over the attendant filming inside the treatment room while the accused patient was getting treatment. When the hospital staff asked them to stop recording, they became angry and attempted to stab the doctor with a pair of scissors. According to the latest media report by Mathrubhumi, a patient accompanied by a man visited the health centre on Monday night around 11:35 pm seeking treatment for his head injuries sustained during a fight at a bar while drinking. The female doctor who was on duty asked them to obtain an OPD ticket. This reportedly angered Arun, who began verbally abusing and threatening the doctor.
After the situation was brought under control, the female doctor and nurses began treating his wound when the attendant forcefully entered the room and began recording a video. When the doctor and nurses objected, both men allegedly hurled verbal abuses at them.
The situation turned violent when the patient later barged into the room and allegedly attempted to stab the doctor with a pair of scissors and also vandalising the property.
At that time, the hospital staff informed the police about the incident who promptly arrived at the scene and arrested the accused. Later, the doctor filed a complaint against the duo and they were arrested after a case was registered under relevant BNS sections.
