Gujarat: Department of Medical Education to recruit 300 medical teachers on contract
Ahmedabad: Preparing for the inspection of the medical colleges by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the Gujarat state medical education department is recruiting medical teachers on an 11-month contract basis.
The department issued advertisements for 300 teachers to be hired for a contract basis to these positions.

Around 500-odd vacant positions of teachers are reported to be available at six government medical colleges in the state. The NMC will be inspecting the postgraduate medical colleges in the coming few days.
The department on Wednesday transferred 17 teachers to BJ Medical College from various other medical colleges. The transferred teachers include 11 medicine teachers, and two each of biochemistry, paediatrics and radiology who have been transferred from Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Vadodara and Surat colleges, as per a media report in the Times of India.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about the inspection carried out by the NMC at the Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) in Jharkhand for 100 MBBS Seats. Confirming the NMC inspection, the Principal of SNMMCH, Dr. Jyotiranjan Prasad, informed that the medical college would hopefully get the NMC nod for 100 MBBS seats for the academic session 2023-2024 on the basis of the assessment report of the NMC team. The NMC team inspected the institute four times in 2015, thrice in 2016, and twice each in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Back in 2021, NMC had threatened to derecognize the medical college owing to the non-compliance by the college administration to its earlier directives. A three-member team of NMC had commenced the inspection at SNMMCH for 100 MBBS seats. The team was clubbed in two groups. While one group inspected the hospital, the other group commenced an inspection for the non-clinical department of the college.
