17-year-old delivers baby in hospital toilet, stray dog carries dead newborn

Newborn’s Body Retrieved from Dog Outside MP Hospital
Mhow: A 17-year-old girl gave birth in the toilet of the Civil Hospital in Mhow, where a stray dog was later seen carrying the body of a newborn baby in its jaws. The grim discovery was made early Saturday morning by a security guard, who intervened and managed to retrieve the body from the animal.
An investigation has been initiated by hospital authorities and police to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Speaking to PTI, Dr HR Verma, who is in charge of the hospital, said, “As per CCTV footage, the incident happened between 1:30 and 2 am. A young girl was seen going into the toilet during this period. When we checked with the staff, we found the 17-year-old girl had come here complaining of colic and had been admitted at 9 pm on Friday. We suspect the girl gave birth to a child in the toilet.”
Shortly after the suspected delivery, the girl was seen leaving the hospital premises with an unidentified man, evading staff and security.
Preliminary assessments suggest the infant was stillborn and possibly left unattended in the toilet area. It is believed the stray dog accessed the area and carried the body outside. Security personnel who witnessed the animal alerted hospital authorities and recovered the infant’s body.

Local police have registered a case and launched a full investigation. Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage and attempting to identify and locate the teenager and the man seen with her. Speaking to TOI, Verma said, "We are fully cooperating with the police and will share all relevant CCTV clips and hospital records."
