2 new OPD complexes to come up at Agra's SN Medical College at Rs 10 crore

Agra: SN Medical College is set to establish two new outpatient department (OPD) complexes at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore to accommodate the rising patient footfall.
According to the news reports, construction of both buildings is scheduled to begin next month and is expected to be completed within 15 to 18 months. The new facilities are aimed at streamlining patient registration, doctor consultations and diagnostic services.

The OPD at SN Medical College currently sees around 3,000 patients a day, against the existing registration and OPD capacity of about 2,000 patients. As a result, the facility often becomes crowded, with queues extending outside the OPD hall when the daily footfall exceeds its capacity.
To ease the pressure at the registration counters, a new block is being constructed above the existing registration hall. The facility will have around 15 counters, allowing more patients to register at the same time and helping reduce long queues.
The current OPD Complex-1 houses the outpatient departments of more than 10 departments. Due to space constraints, plans are also underway to expand the building to two floors. Once the new facilities are completed, departments will be relocated as required to make better use of the available space.
A four-storey OPD complex is also being constructed near the MCH building for the Gynaecology Department. The facility is expected to accommodate the Gynaecology and Paediatrics OPDs, along with separate vaccination counters for children.
The ground floor of the complex will have patient registration counters, while the upper floors will house diagnostic and treatment facilities. Conference halls are also planned for departmental meetings and academic activities. A new paediatric hospital is being constructed nearby.
According to Principal Dr. Prashant Gupta, approximately Rs 10 crore will be spent on the construction of both new OPD complexes. Construction work is planned to begin next month. The buildings are targeted to be completed in 15 to 18 months. After the new blocks open, registration and department-wise OPD operations will be reorganized, reports Dainik Bhaskar.
Meanwhile, a new OPD building is being constructed at the site of the former Lady Loyal Building. The facility will have the capacity to cater to around 6,000 to 7,000 patients daily and will house OPDs of major departments.
The expansion is expected to provide additional space to various departments and improve the management of the college's growing outpatient patient load.
