He said that it was unfortunate that such an incident had come to the fore in Bilaspur district. He said that it was a matter of pride that both the mother and the child were safe.
The Deputy Commissioner said that to avoid such incidents in the future, a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, which will submit its report as soon as possible.
Further necessary action will be taken on the basis of the report.
It is worth noting here that on Sunday, a pregnant woman of sub-division Sadar was brought to Regional Hospital Bilaspur for delivery, from where she was referred to AIIMS, Bilaspur, due to the non-availability of a gynaecologist in the hospital.
The pregnant woman was referred to Shimla on the pretext of anaemia, but the ambulance personnel got the woman delivered safely on the way.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that in a shocking incident, a pregnant woman delivered her baby in the autorickshaw at the hospital premises after the staff were busy attending the function. The staff of the woman’s hospital in Vasmat have been served show-cause notices. The incident took place at the woman’s hospital in Vasmat, some 240 kilometres away and video showed staff busy with a function on the premises and no one by the side of the woman except a female attendant.
