Caught on Camera: Delhi Hospital staffer allegedly steals jewellery from deceased patient

Video Surfaces of Staffer Stealing Jewellery from Patient in Delhi Hospital
New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a private hospital staffer at East Delhi’s Shahdara area allegedly stole gold jewellery from a patient shortly after she passed away. The incident came to public attention after a video purportedly showing the staffer removing jewellery from the deceased woman went viral on social media.
The Krishna Nagar police have registered a case under Section 303(2) (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for theft, and an investigation is currently underway.
According to a senior police officer, a complaint was filed on November 11 by a resident of Pandav Nagar, Vishwas Nagar, who stated that he had admitted his mother to the emergency ward of a private hospital located in Krishna Nagar. The patient, who was in critical condition, was immediately placed on oxygen support. Shortly afterwards, doctors advised the attendant to shift her to another hospital for further treatment.

However, after he came back inside, he found that the earrings and the ear chain that his mother was wearing had gone missing. The complainant brought the incident to the notice of the hospital administration. “We have received only the earrings, but not the chain,” he added, reports TNIE.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, he further alleged that the hospital staff had initially denied any knowledge about the missing jewellery and had also asked the deceased's family members to check properly before taking the body.
