Chandigarh: A violent clash between two groups of around 16 individuals unfolded inside the emergency block of Dera Bassi Civil Hospital, creating chaos and panic among patients and hospital staff.
The confrontation reportedly began when a group of five individuals including a woman, had arrived at the hospital for treatment on Sunday Morning following a clash in Zirakpur and was confronted by a larger group of 10 to 15 people. The argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with hospital staff attempting to intervene but facing aggressive resistance from the miscreants.

Senior Medical Officer Dharminder Singh filed a complaint with the Dera Bassi police, leading to the registration of a case against one identified individual and 15 others.
According to The Tribune, Dera Bassi SHO Mandeep Singh stated, “A case has been registered for obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions, mischief under Sections 221, 324 (3), 190, 191 of the BNS and The Punjab Prevention of Damage to Public and Private Property Act has been registered and police is investigating the matter.”
The watchman on night duty reportedly stated that he had gone to the other building for some work at the time of the incident. His absence during the disturbance raises questions about security measures in place at the hospital, particularly in emergencies.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that in a shocking incident, a doctor at a private hospital in Bettadasanapura, Bengaluru was allegedly assaulted by a Nepalese man who was brought by the police for treatment. The 35-year-old cook was reportedly high on drugs, the attack has raised concerns about safety in healthcare settings amid rising drug-related violence.
