Delhi's Hindu Rao Hospital upgrades infrastructure with advanced medical equipment

New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi's (MCD) historic Hindu Rao Hospital has achieved a major milestone with the inauguration of advanced medical equipment, upgraded healthcare facilities, and modern treatment services.
The occasion also celebrated 25 years of the hospital's Diplomate of National Board (DNB) programme, which has played a key role in medical education and specialist training since its launch in 2001. Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi attended the event as the chief guest.
During the programme, the upgraded Casualty (Emergency) Department, Dharamshala and Physiotherapy Block, Integrated Blood Sample Collection Centre, advanced ophthalmology equipment, a 4K Laparoscopy System, C-Arm Machine, and several other healthcare facilities were inaugurated. While some facilities were inaugurated physically, others were launched through e-inauguration, according to The Daily.
The hospital also introduced a host of advanced medical equipment, including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), a Visual Field Analyser, Fundus Camera, Phacoemulsification Machine, Non-Contact Tonometer, Cryoablator, Advanced 4K Laparoscope, Pneumatic Lithotripter, Paediatric Spirometer, Cardiotocography (CTG) equipment, a modern Labour Room and a state-of-the-art gymnasium in the Physiotherapy Department.
According to the hospital administration, the newly added facilities are expected to enhance the quality, efficiency and accessibility of healthcare services while strengthening the hospital's overall medical capabilities.
The event also highlighted the growth of Hindu Rao Hospital's DNB programme, which began in 2001 with 21 seats across eight medical specialities. Over the past 25 years, the programme has expanded to 51 accredited DNB seats covering 10 specialities.
The hospital currently has 71 experienced faculty members involved in teaching and training, reflecting its continued commitment to producing skilled medical professionals while delivering quality healthcare.
Mayor Pravesh Wahi said doctors hold the most revered place in society after God. “Hindu Rao Hospital has always shared a deep emotional connection with me. The advanced medical equipment inaugurated today demonstrates that MCD hospitals now stand on par with private healthcare institutions and are providing high-quality treatment free of cost to the common citizens,” he added, reports The Statesman.
The Mayor also thanked Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for her continued support in expanding and modernising healthcare infrastructure in MCD hospitals. He urged doctors and hospital staff to ensure that patients receive not only quality medical treatment but also compassionate, respectful, and humane care.
