Fake patients for MCI approval more arrests may in case of Lucknow medical college
Lucknow: Days after the managing director of Dr. MC Saxena Group of Colleges was arrested for forcibly admitting laborers as patients in his hospital in order to get recognition from the Medical Council of India, his entire family has come under the scanner of the police, reports the Times of India.
The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about the police raid in the hospital which had revealed that the laborers were made to pose as 'patients' and they were being kept hostage in order to pass the inspections of the MCI to get the hospital recognition, following which the doctor was arrested. Because as per the rules, a hospital needs to provide a certain minimum number of patients receiving treatment in order to get recognition.
The doctor and his family members are accused of forcibly admitting laborers to the hospital on the pretext of treatment in spite of them not requiring any medical treatment.
The Medical Dialogues team had last reported that in the aftermath of the police raid and the arrest of the accused doctor, the college had received a notice from the Chief Medical Officer of Lucknow for admitting laborers as patients.

As per the investigation officer Himanchal Singh, the family members of the doctor, his father, sister, and brothers were all wanted in the case and are on the run, reports the TOI. He said, "We are carrying out raids and will move the court for further action."
The police investigation so far has revealed that the fraud was performed by the doctor to get recognition from the MCI. The accused doctor was arrested under several charges including voluntary causing injury by dangerous weapons, wrongful confinement, extortion, dishonesty, and forgery.
The matter came to the fore on February 8 after a complaint was filed by a laborer with the Thakurganj police alleging that employees of a private hospital had detained 125 laborers and were forcing them to undergo treatment.
