Hyderabad: Osmania General Hospital receives donation of medical equipment worth Rs 65 lakh
Hyderabad: Aiming to enhance patient care in the state, a central-owned public sector Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has donated state-of-the-art medical equipment worth Rs 65 lakh to Osmania General Hospital (OGH).
The initiative was taken as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity. The equipment was donated to provide sustainable healthcare benefits to poor patients who visit the hospital in hope of receiving proper treatment.
Telangana Medical Education Director, Dr K Ramesh Reddy inaugurated the equipment at the departments of gastroenterology, venereology, and leprosy (DVL) in OGH. Principal of Osmania Medical College, Dr Shashikala and other health officials were present at the occasion.

The medical equipment includes a High Resolution (HR) Manometry, used to evaluate the oesophagal motor function, lasers and whole body PUVA or photochemotherapy machine for ultraviolet radiation treatment (phototherapy) to treat severe skin diseases.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited is an Indian central public sector undertaking under the ownership of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. It is engaged mainly in the transmission of bulk power across different states of India. Power Grid transmits about 50% of the total power generated in India on its transmission network.
The Superintendent of the OGH, Dr B. Nagendar, expressed his sincere gratitude to PGCIL for making such a generous donation under corporate social responsibility. He also appealed to other corporate companies to make such donations in order to benefit poor and needy patients.
While thanking the corporation for the donation, he informed Telangana Today, “Such donations give an opportunity to serve poor patients who cannot afford such high end treatment and diagnostic procedures. By placing such high end equipment in government hospitals like OGH, not only complex and costly procedures can be done free of cost to the patients but also the PG students can be benefited due to hands-on training and also gain experience in carrying out such high end procedures.”
