IGIMS Announces Rs. 3 Crore for Medical Research
Patna: During the 42nd Foundation Day celebrations on Wednesday, Dr. Bindey Kumar, the director of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), stated that the institute's current priorities are focused on advancing research and enhancing patient care. The event highlighted IGIMS’s ongoing commitment to advancing medical research and clinical services.

The event also celebrated the institute's 11th Foundation Oration Day, where renowned nephrologist Dr Vivekanad Jha was honoured for his contributions to the field of medicine. Dr Jha, who was also the main speaker of the occasion stressed the critical role of research in advancing medical science. He pointed out that ongoing research in medicine is vital for discovering innovative treatments that can improve health outcomes and ultimately benefit mankind.
The celebration was attended by notable medical professionals, including Dr Sanjay D'Cruz from the Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh, who was present as the guest of honor. Other distinguished guests included Dr Om Kumar, head of the nephrology department at IGIMS, Dr Manish Mandal, the superintendent of IGIMS, and Dr. Amresh Krishna from AIIMS-Patna. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Ranjeet Guha, while Dr Sangeeta Pankaj moderated the function.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a 500-bed hospital building at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), increasing the institute’s total capacity to 1,700 beds. He said that all modern medical facilities would be available at the IGIMS.
