Indore's MY Hospital Designates New OT for Dental Surgeries, Approves Rs 10 Lakh for Upgrades
Indore: One of the newly constructed operation theatres (OTs) at Indore's Maharaja Yeshwantrao (MY) Hospital will now be dedicated to dental surgeries. The decision was made during the recent executive council meeting of the Government Dental College, which was attended online by Tarun Rathi, Commissioner of Public Health and Medical Education.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the newly built modular operation theatres (OTs) at Maharaja Yeshwantrao (MY) Hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, are expected to be operational within a month. This upgrade will provide patients with access to advanced surgical facilities. This expansion is a vital step in addressing the growing demand for surgical procedures at the hospital. A department-wise allocation of the new operating theatres (OTs) will be determined in an upcoming meeting at MGM Medical College to ensure their optimal utilization.

During the meeting, Dr. Alka Gupta, the Principal-in-charge of the Government Dental College, presented a proposal highlighting the need for a dedicated OT for dental procedures. The proposal was later approved by the Commissioner.
In addition to the OT upgrade, a budget of Rs 10 lakh was sanctioned to improve the outpatient department (OPD) and enhance student seating arrangements. These improvements are expected to provide a more comfortable and efficient experience for both patients and students. Furthermore, a proposal seeking an additional Rs 25 lakh will be sent to the government for further enhancements.
During the meeting, the plans for equipment purchases in various departments were also approved. According to Free Press Journal, the meeting was attended by MGM Medical College Dean Dr VP Pandey, Additional Collector Jyoti Sharma, and other senior officials.
