Jaipur: Sawai Man Singh Medical College is all set to start its emergency medicine department in SMS Hospital. The department will be operational for 24 hours.
This came in compliance with the order that made the existence of an emergency medicine department mandatory for all medical colleges from the academic year 2022-23.

NMC also stated that all medical colleges will have to have a mandatory emergency department having at least 30 beds. The rules specify that medical colleges will have to adjust their bed strength to accommodate these additional beds.
Taking cognizance of the NMC direction, Sawai Man Singh Medical College has now already completed the necessary preparations to run the emergency department in SMS Hospital 24*7. A few days ago RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata also started its new emergency observation ward with 58 beds which is equipped with all life-saving equipment.
