Jharkhand to set up 49 trauma centres, 10-bed ICUs in districts
Ranchi: To strengthen emergency healthcare services, trauma centres will be established at 49 locations across the state, equipped with trained doctors, nurses, technicians and life-saving machines. The announcement was made during a review meeting of the Health Department on Monday, focusing on hospital rejuvenation and infrastructure improvement.
In addition, the health department has set a target to establish a 10-bedded ICU in every district along with one Tele-ICU facility. The Tele-ICU services are currently operational at five locations, where patients are being examined remotely and monitored by specialists from RIMS, Ranchi, the news agency UNI reported.

The review meeting was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department, Ajoy Kumar Singh, and conducted through video conferencing with all district Civil Surgeons from the departmental auditorium.
During the meeting, he reviewed the progress of key health schemes and assessed preparedness to improve service delivery across districts.
The Additional Chief Secretary issued strict instructions regarding painting and upkeep of hospitals.
He directed all Civil Surgeons to submit photographs of painting work of hospitals in their respective districts and ensure completion of painting of all district and divisional hospitals before March. The photographs are to be uploaded on the state government’s official website.
The meeting also reviewed the availability of medical equipment in hospitals.
The Additional Chief Secretary instructed officials to ensure the immediate procurement of essential machines wherever required.
He further directed that performance reviews of doctors at block and Community Health Centre (CHC) levels be conducted regularly and efforts be made to motivate them. Officials were asked to promptly inform the department of any operational challenges, reports UNI.
The progress of the construction of modular operation theatres (OTs) in Sadar hospitals was also reviewed. Expressing concern over delays, the Additional Chief Secretary instructed that construction be expedited.
He stated that in the future, all sadar hospitals would be transferred to medical colleges, making the colleges accountable for hospital operations and management.
The meeting also reviewed the functioning of the Mobile Gram Clinic scheme and the status of requisitions related to outsourced personnel.
Under the PM-ABHIM agenda, the Additional Secretary Vidyanand Sharma Pankaj directed officials to complete verification of equipment procured under the 15th Finance Commission at the earliest.
He also reviewed the status of IPHL and BPHU, discussed expenditure under PM-ABHIM, sought updates on the contribution of dental surgeons, placement of medical officers and specialist doctors, and assessed the status of court-related cases.
