Lab Technician arrested for sexual assault at LNJP Hospital

Delhi: Following a sexual assault complaint filed by a 19-year-old woman, Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested a lab technician at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital.

According to the police, the 19-year-old complainant and the accused have allegedly been in a relationship for months. During their relationship, the accused had claimed to be unmarried. CCTV footage from the hospital showed the couple together on multiple occasions within the premises, further corroborating their relationship.

Further investigation into the matter revealed that there had been extensive communication between the two via phone and social media. However, the situation changed dramatically when the young woman allegedly learned the man was already married.

As per the recent media report by the Indian Express, the police said, the young woman reportedly filed the police complaint against the man after coming to know that the accused was already married.

The police have registered a case under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) dealing with sexual offences. M. Harsha Vardhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Delhi), confirmed the case registration on Wednesday.
