Patient allegedly found tied to bed at Ayodhya Hospital sparks outcry

Mentally Ill Patient Found Tied in Ayodhya Hospital Veranda, Sparks Outrage
Ayodhya: In a disturbing incident, a mentally ill patient was allegedly found tied to a bed in the disused veranda of Ayodhya’s district hospital, left helpless and unable to eat from a plate of food placed before him. The shocking sight has ignited public anger and raised serious concerns about patient care and human dignity in Uttar Pradesh’s healthcare system.
According to the news reports, the man was brought to the hospital on an e-rickshaw after being found wandering in distress. Doctors declared him mentally unstable; he allegedly tore mattresses and sheets inside the ward. Following this, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) Dr. Rajesh Singh instructed hospital staff to refer him to the psychiatry department at Darshan Nagar Medical College.
However, hospital staff allegedly ignored the order. Instead of ensuring proper treatment, they moved the patient to an abandoned section of the hospital, a veranda officially marked “unfit for use”, and tied him to a bed to keep him out of sight.
