Pay 6 months pending salaries to TVVP Hospital staff: Harish Rao
Hyderabad: In a recent appeal, Telangana Former Health Minister Harish Rao has urged the state government to expedite the payment of hospital staff salaries, which have been pending for the past six months.
This appeal follows growing concerns from healthcare workers who have not received their wages, highlighting a significant issue within the state's healthcare system.
Former Health Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao specifically called on the government to release overdue salaries for sanitation, patient care, and security staff at various hospitals under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP). He criticized the government for neglecting to pay these staff members for the past six months.
Harish Rao's demands come in response to ongoing protests by hospital staff who have voiced their frustration and hardship due to the non-payment of their salaries. The former minister described the situation as an "inhumane" oversight by the Congress government, criticizing its failure to address the plight of these crucial employees.
Rao criticized the government's neglect of health staff, stating that it is unacceptable. He emphasized that these employees are the backbone of the healthcare system, particularly in government hospitals where they work under challenging conditions. The extended period of unpaid salaries was described as a grave injustice.
Harish Rao criticized Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, highlighting a discrepancy between the government's claims of timely salary payments and the reality faced by hospital staff. “It is wrong on part of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who boasts of paying salaries to government employees on the first day of every month, has turned a blind eye to these workers,” Harish Rao stated, according to Telangana Today. He condemned the Chief Minister's inattention to the plight of hospital staff, despite the government's assurances of prompt payments for other public sector employees.

Rao elaborated on the root cause of the issue, pointing out that the government has not released funds since February. This lapse has resulted in a backlog of unpaid bills to contractors, which has subsequently impacted the ability of hospitals to pay their staff. The unpaid wages have created significant hardship for workers who continue to perform their duties under challenging conditions.
Despite repeated protests and demands for overdue wages, the government has remained indifferent, according to Rao. The issue, he noted, arises from a failure to release necessary funds, which has become a severe burden for hospital employees already working under dire circumstances.
Harish Rao, on behalf of the BRS party, has demanded the immediate release of the hospital staff's pending salaries and dues. He urged the state government to prioritize the well-being of these workers, emphasizing their crucial role in maintaining the healthcare system's functionality.
Rao asserted that the government must act swiftly to resolve this issue and ensure that all pending salaries and dues are paid without further delay. Recognizing the importance of these employees and taking the necessary actions to support them is imperative for the state government.
