Peroorkada District Model Hospital set for infrastructure upgrade, 100 beds to be added

Kerala Health Minister Shri K Muraleedharan
Thiruvananthapuram: In a move aimed at improving healthcare accessibility, Health Minister Shri K Muraleedharan has said the government will consider strengthening Peroorkada District Model Hospital to improve patient care and ease overcrowding at major hospitals.
The announcement was made after the minister held discussions with senior officials regarding the development requirements of Peroorkada District Model Hospital. During the review, he noted that the hospital’s existing services should be utilised more effectively and that expansion of facilities would help divert patient load from the medical college hospital, reports The Times of India.
As part of the proposed expansion plan, the hospital is expected to get 100 additional beds. The government will also initiate steps to appoint more staff in order to manage the increased patient inflow and strengthen day-to-day service delivery.
The minister further stated that the proposal for allocating funds to the hospital’s dialysis unit would be examined. The dialysis unit provides care for patients requiring renal replacement therapy, and additional funding would be considered as part of efforts to strengthen the hospital’s essential healthcare services.
