PGI woman radiographer found dead under mysterious circumstances, Colleagues allege harassment by senior
Chandigarh: In an unfortunate incident, a 50-year-old woman supervisor radiographer at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh allegedly committed suicide by slitting her wrist in the CT scan room within the hospital premises on Monday.
The radiographer succumbed to severe blood loss. She is survived by her husband and a son, who lives abroad.
The cause of her death is still a mystery as she did not leave a suicide note, but her coworkers claim that she was being harassed by a senior tutor and his wife.
The deceased coworkers also claimed that she took the extreme step due to the alleged harassment from the duo. However, it is uncertain and the the police are investigating the matter.

As per the HT news report, the incident occurred when she was on the morning shift at the Advanced Paediatric Centre. She was in the CT scan room where she locked the door and allegedly took her life. Even though the door was forcibly opened, she could not be saved as she suffered severe blood loss. After being quickly taken to the emergency room, the doctors pronounced her dead.
Confirming the incident, PGIMER spokespersons, in a statement, said, “Postmortem and forensic reports are awaited. The institute is cooperating fully with the police as they conduct their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.”
She is survived by her husband and a son, who lives abroad. A case has been registered in this regard and the police are in the process of determining the cause of her death.
When contacted Dr M S Sandhu, head of the department of radiodiagnosis and imaging refused to comment on the matter.
