Puducherry mulls separate hospital for infectious diseases

Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Monday said that the administration would soon set up a separate hospital to treat infectious diseases in the Union Territory.
Speaking at a function at the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College to encourage blood donation and to honour donors, the chief minister said at the outbreak of Covid pandemic, the government medical college was converted into Covid hospital and no other patients could be treated, adding that the administration has proposed to set up a separate hospital for infectious diseases.

He said the union government has been approached for funds for the hospital.
Rangasamy said many people are reluctant to take Covid vaccine and insisted that they should compulsorily take the vaccine which only will prevent the spread of the disease here. Puducherry should be made a 100 percent vaccinated state, he added.
The chief minister also dedicated C T Scan facilities worth Rs nine crore to the people on the occasion.
